In more than last 20 years Moodle LMS has been one of the most popular open source Learning management system in the world. With more than 2085 plugins in the official plugins repository, customising Moodle is pretty easy. In this post, I will share about the Course Archives plugin which allows you to archive and remove past courses easily.
All teachers might have faced problems while setting up their courses for the next session and need to plan for the year-end procedures. Moodle allows to reuse the courses once created by backing up and restoring them. However, according to statutory requirements, the institutions required the user data to be retained for a certain period.
The Course Archiver plugin is used to search for courses, notify the course owners, and mass hide or archive (backup and remove) courses. The course archiver plugin allows you to search for courses based on all possible criteria including teacher name, course name, start/end date, created before/after date, accessed before/after date etc.
You can also customize the template emails which will be used to send to the owners of the selected courses to notify them that their course(s) will be hidden or archived. You can also delay he deletion of archived courses with a specified duration.
Overall, the plugin seems to be pretty useful for administrators to help them setup Moodle for next session. You can easily archive courses in bulk by using the Course Archiver plugin. You can download the plugin from the official plugins directory here.
